XERF cihaz 1

If your jawline looks softer than it used to, or your cheeks seem to sit a little lower in photos, you have probably come across XERF. It is one of the newest radiofrequency devices for tightening loose skin without needles or surgery, and it got a lot of attention after Kim Kardashian talked about it online.

Popularity is not a reason to have a treatment, though. This guide explains what XERF actually does, who tends to benefit, what a visit to our clinic in Nişantaşı, Istanbul looks like, and what actually shapes the price of XERF in Istanbul.

If you are planning a trip to Istanbul and want to fit a treatment into it, you will find the practical details here too.

What Is XERF?

XERF is a dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency system developed by Cynosure Lutronic. A treatment tip is moved across the skin, and the radiofrequency energy creates controlled heat in the deeper layers. Nothing pierces the skin at any point.

The device works at two frequencies, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz. Because the depth and energy can be adjusted, the cheeks, forehead and neck don’t have to be treated with the same setting. Thin skin on the neck and thicker tissue along the lower face can each be handled differently in the same session, which is a big part of why doctors like it.

Is It Loose Skin or Lost Volume? Why the Difference Matters

Most people describe any change in their face as “sagging.” In practice, it is often more specific than that. A hollow under the cheekbone usually comes from lost volume underneath. Heaviness along the jaw, on the other hand, is more often loose skin and tissue that has shifted downward.

This matters because XERF does one job. It does not add volume the way fillers do, and it won’t remove a noticeable fat pocket the way liposuction can. What it can do is improve the look of skin laxity. That’s why our doctors look at your whole face during the consultation, not just the spot that bothers you. Tightening the jawline while ignoring a volume problem in the mid-face rarely gives a balanced result.

Which Areas Can XERF Treat?

According to the manufacturer, XERF can be used on the face, jawline, under the chin, neck, forehead and brow area. The right tip and settings are chosen for each zone.

What you notice Area treated What the treatment aims to do
Cheeks look heavier and less firmCheeks and lower faceImprove firmness for a more lifted, tidier look
Early jowls along the jawJawlineSoften the loss of contour caused by laxity
Loose skin under the chinSubmental areaTreat skin looseness (separately from any fat)
Neck skin has lost its snapNeckHelp the skin look tighter in suitable patients
Mild heaviness in the upper faceForehead and browA subtle lift, depending on anatomy and tip choice

With the neck and under-chin area in particular, it’s worth knowing what is causing the look. If there is a lot of excess skin, strong muscle bands or a significant fat deposit, a different approach may give you a better result, and we will tell you so.

How Does XERF Tighten the Skin?

Collagen is the protein that keeps skin firm. As we age, that support network slowly weakens, and the skin starts to look looser. The controlled heat from XERF triggers an immediate tightening response in collagen fibres, followed by a longer rebuilding process.

So what you feel right after the session is not the final result. Many people notice some firmness straight away, but the real changes develop over the following weeks and months. It’s also worth being realistic: one treatment won’t erase every sign of ageing. Deep folds, hollows and advanced sagging usually need something else, either alongside XERF or instead of it.

Why Have XERF in Istanbul?

More and more patients from the UK, Europe, the Gulf and North America are choosing Istanbul for non-surgical treatments, and the reasons are fairly straightforward:

  • Value

XERF is positioned as a premium treatment in London, New York and Dubai. In Istanbul you can have the same original device, used under a plastic surgeon’s supervision, often at a more accessible overall cost, even once flights and a hotel are added.

  • Doctor-led care.

At Quartz Clinique, treatment planning is overseen by Op. Dr. Leyla Arvas, a board-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon. Because she also performs surgery, she can tell you honestly when a non-surgical option is enough and when it isn’t.

  • Easy to fit into a trip.

A session takes roughly 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas, and there is no real recovery time. You can have it done in the morning and be walking around Nişantaşı by lunchtime.

  • Central location.

Our clinic is in Nişantaşı, one of Istanbul’s best-known shopping and dining districts, close to major hotels in Şişli and Beşiktaş.

Planning Your Trip

Most international patients start with a WhatsApp consultation. You send a few photos of your face and neck in natural light, tell us what bothers you, and share your medical history. Our team will give you an honest first opinion and a personal quote before you book anything.

Once you arrive, we do a face-to-face assessment before treatment. In most cases the consultation and the session can happen on the same day. We’d still suggest staying at least two or three nights in Istanbul, so there is time for a quick check before you fly home. Flying the day after XERF is generally fine, since there are no wounds or stitches.

The manufacturer’s protocol for some areas describes two initial sessions, four to six weeks apart. If your plan includes a second session, we can schedule it for a return visit, or discuss whether a single session makes sense for you. Not everyone needs two.

Your First Consultation: What We Look At

We start with a simple question: what would you like to change? Then we look at your skin thickness, how much laxity there is, how volume is distributed across your face, and any treatments you’ve had before.

Please tell us about any previous fillers, thread lifts, surgery or energy-based treatments, ideally with rough dates. We also need to know about medications, health conditions, pregnancy, pacemakers or other implants. Suitability is assessed against the device’s instructions for use. By the end of the consultation, you should know which areas will be treated and, just as important, how much change you can realistically expect from a non-surgical treatment.

What Does XERF Feel Like?

The tip is moved across each marked area, and the energy and depth may be changed as the doctor moves from one zone to the next. You’ll feel warmth, and sometimes brief prickling or sensitivity. XERF has a built-in cooling system and something called Wave Fit technology, which regulates how energy is delivered, to keep things comfortable.

The manufacturer says most patients don’t need numbing cream. That said, comfort levels vary from person to person, so let us know if you’re nervous and we’ll talk it through.

Sessions and Tracking Your Results

Your session plan depends on the areas treated and the condition of your skin. To judge results fairly, we take photos in the same light, from the same angle and with the same expression before and after. This makes it much easier to see real change instead of relying on how the skin feels in the mirror. Based on the outcome, we can discuss a repeat session or a different approach.

Aftercare

Mild redness, warmth, tenderness or slight swelling can appear after the session and usually settles quickly. There’s no long recovery period, but every skin reacts a little differently.

  • Keep your skincare simple for a few days: gentle cleansing, a good moisturiser and sunscreen.
  • Hold off on peels, strong actives and other aesthetic treatments until your doctor gives you the go-ahead.
  • Istanbul can be very sunny, especially from May to October. Wear SPF and a hat if you’re sightseeing.
  • If you notice increasing pain, blistering or a reaction stronger than expected, contact us straight away, even after you’ve returned home.

How to Make Sure the Device Is Genuine

XERF is a brand name for a specific device, not a general term for radiofrequency treatments. Some clinics use the name loosely, and counterfeit devices have been reported in several markets. It’s perfectly reasonable to ask a clinic which brand and model they’ll use on you.

Genuine devices can be checked by serial number with the manufacturer or its official distributor in Turkey. How well the device is maintained and how well the practitioner is trained matter too. And even with an authentic device, a personalised plan is what makes the difference.

XERF Price in Istanbul: What Affects the Cost?

We don’t publish a fixed XERF price list, and there’s a good reason for that. Two people asking for “XERF on the face” can need very different things. One may only need a focused jawline session; another may benefit from treating the cheeks, under the chin and the neck together. A single headline number would be misleading for both of them.

Instead, we prepare a personal quote after reviewing your photos or seeing you in person. It spells out which areas will be treated and how many sessions we recommend, so there are no surprises when you arrive in Istanbul.

What shapes your XERF quote

Factor Why it matters What to ask the clinic
Number of areasA jawline-only session is a much smaller job than treating the full face and neck."Which areas exactly are included?"
Number of sessionsSome patients do well with one session; others are advised to have two, four to six weeks apart."Is this for one session or the whole plan?"
Degree of skin laxityMore laxity can mean more passes, a longer session or a combined plan."Is XERF alone enough for me?"
Combined treatmentsIf volume loss or fat is part of the picture, filler or another treatment may be suggested."What else do you recommend, and why?"
Follow-upPhoto comparison and aftercare support matter, especially once you're back home."Is follow-up included?"
Device authenticityAn unusually low quote can be a warning sign of a non-original device."Which brand and model will you use?"

When comparing quotes from different clinics, in Istanbul or back home, make sure they cover the same areas and the same number of sessions. Otherwise you’re not comparing like with like.

Want to know what XERF would cost in your case? Send us a message on WhatsApp with a few photos of your face and neck, and we’ll usually come back to you with a personal quote the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does XERF cost in Istanbul?

There’s no single price, because the cost depends on which areas are treated and how many sessions you need. We prepare a personal quote after reviewing your photos, so you know exactly what’s included before you book your trip.

Do I need to wait until sagging is obvious before having XERF?

No. The decision isn’t based only on how visible the change is. Mild laxity can be assessed too, although that doesn’t mean you should have a treatment you don’t need.

Can XERF treat pigmentation or sun spots?

XERF is designed for skin tightening. Pigmentation, redness and scarring need their own assessment and a treatment suited to them.

Can I have XERF on just one area?

Yes, if it’s suitable for you. We’ll still look at the surrounding areas so the result looks balanced rather than isolated.

Is XERF a replacement for fillers?

Not if the problem is volume loss. The two do different jobs. If you have both laxity and lost volume, we’ll explain whether you need one or both, and in which order.

Will the results look natural?

The aim is a firmer look within your own facial structure, not a different face. How much change you see depends on your anatomy, the plan and how your skin responds.

Can XERF replace a facelift?

Not when there is significant excess skin or advanced sagging. For some people a non-surgical approach is the right fit; for others, it’s more honest to discuss surgical options. As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Arvas can talk you through both.

How long should I stay in Istanbul for XERF?

The treatment itself takes under an hour, but we recommend staying two to three nights so there’s time for an in-person consultation and a quick check before you leave.

Can I fly home right after XERF?

Generally yes. There are no wounds or stitches, so flying the next day is usually fine. Mild redness or warmth tends to settle within hours.

Do your staff speak English?

Yes. Our international patient team communicates in English and several other languages, from your first WhatsApp message to aftercare once you’re home.
